Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens's musical Ragtime weaves together the stories of an upper-class white family, a Black musician from Harlem, and a Jewish immigrant to paint a portrait of early 20th-century America. The sweeping score and intersecting narratives explore racial and class divides, the struggle for justice and freedom, and the pursuit of the American Dream.
