Seeing a play in Jacksonville

A neighborhood playhouse, a dinner theater and a touring Broadway house make for three very different evenings. Choose the format first, then the show.

For a neighborhood night: Theatre Jacksonville

Theatre Jacksonville is a volunteer community theater at 2032 San Marco Boulevard. Its 2026–27 season mixes musicals, comedies and dramas, and the theater notes that mainstage shows can include mature language and themes. Evening performances start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with 2 p.m. matinees on weekends. The lobby box office opens 30 minutes before curtain. Children under 6 are not admitted, late arrivals are seated only when the house manager allows it, and single tickets are final sale. The site does not cover parking or access needs, so call the box office before you go.Source: Theatre Jacksonville box office and season page.

For a small stage near the ocean: Players by the Sea

Players by the Sea is a community theater at 106 North 6th Street in Jacksonville Beach, with a mainstage and a smaller studio stage. Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.; seating opens half an hour before. A small bar sells beer, wine and soft drinks for a donation, and you can take your drink to your seat. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early, because late seating generally isn't offered. Accessible seating is in the front row of both stages. Sales are final, though a ticket can usually be moved to another performance of the same show up to a day ahead.Source: Players by the Sea FAQ and box office page.

For dinner and a show: Alhambra Theatre & Dining

The Alhambra, at 12000 Beach Boulevard, serves a three-course dinner before the curtain, with a menu that changes for each production. For evening shows, doors and dinner service run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and the curtain rises at 7:50; matinee doors open at noon. The theater suggests arriving when doors open. Drinks and the tip are not included in the ticket, and the dress code is smart casual. Ages 5 and up are admitted, with younger children allowed at some family and holiday shows. Ask the box office about wheelchair tables and dietary needs, which need 48 hours' notice.Source: Alhambra FAQ and theater policy.

For a touring Broadway show: FSCJ Artist Series

The FSCJ Artist Series brings national Broadway tours to the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts at 300 Water Street, Downtown. Its 2026–27 season includes Hamilton in December and Jersey Boys in April, along with concerts and family shows. Buy from the Series' own site or box office: it will not exchange or refund tickets bought on resale sites, and every guest, including infants, needs a ticket. The Series points theatergoers to the VyStar Tower Garage at 37 South Hogan Street, a short walk away, where parking costs less if you pay online in advance.Source: ticket policy and parking information.

Choosing between them

If you want a low-key night and a shorter drive, start with the community theaters. If the meal is part of the plan, the Alhambra handles the whole evening. For the big touring titles, check the Artist Series calendar early, since popular runs are short. Every performance we list links to the theater's own page, so open the theater listings and confirm the date, run time and age guidance there.
